Liberals are defined in recent times by their hatred of almost everybody and everything
and their method of whining and complaining while offering nothing of any value to solve any of the problems they decry. Many of the folks who post here are most assuredly liberals because they whine, complain and decry while never offering a positive example or any realistic solution to the problems about which they constantly complain. They are definitely stuck on stupid! Would the likes of a Barry Goldwater whine and complain or would he lead by example with realistic plans and an inspiring message? Why don't more conservatives or libertarians like Crantz, Gilligan and Joe speak up against the nattering nabobs of negatism. Why do we tolerate hatemongering in this very group. Liberals like DSK and Jonathan Ganz are constantly picking on Capt. Rob, for example, and calling him a liar and a scoundrel while rarely or never providing any proof. Instead we get libel and slander as well as a great deal of ignorance demonstrated at every level by these liberals. It's as if a small percentage of the country suffers from dysfunctional thinking, errant logic and unabashed foolishness. How can anybody in their right mind not wish they owned and sailed a Beneteau 35s5, or had such a lovely and talented wife and a wonderful child? Good grief! Why don't more conservatives or libertarians like Crantz, Gilligan and Joe speak up against the nattering nabobs of negatism. Why do we tolerate hatemongering in this very group. At one time a very bright torch of conservatism burned from the highest of places and shined upon every space of this newsgroup. To many that torch not only illuminated the path but it burned so brightly that the tenets of true and proper conservatism (hence sailing) were etched into the retina (and minds) for an extended time. To others that bright beacon of truth merely blinded them and caused them to fonder upon the shoals of modern liberalism for the bile of self hatred ran in their veins. Sadly, that bright beacon - brighter than 100 suns, which shone upon all things went dark. The remaining conservatives could only rely upon their own torches, of much limited candlepower to guide them. No single torch has the power to illuminate as the greatest torch once did. Now there are hundreds of single points of light rather than the great beacon to illuminate and guide all. Some remain here with the hope that that great torch bearer will return with the stature and brilliance to shine upon all and once again expose truth, justice and the American way. "I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents 'interests,' I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can." Barry Goldwater As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. Henry David Thoreau I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the mountains. I do not wish to go below now. Henry David Thoreau Most of the luxuries and many of the so-called comforts of life are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind. Just Google "Barry Goldwater" on alt.sailing.asa and you will see he was a regular poster along with Phil Hendrie, Lloyd Bonifide, Margarete Gray, Liberace, Pastor William Rennick and a host of others. This place used to be hopping. |

This place used to be | hopping. It feels to me as if a goodly portion of the country passed away when the abundantly talented Phil Hendrie retired. But, I think I know why he retired. His almost superhuman talent was vastly underappreciated and even less well understood. What's the use of expending so much energy catering to an audience consisting primarily of Bozos?
