My boat was craned back in today. Light winds and warm sunshine here in
Norway. All my friends in Uk think we live in ice and snow for most of the year. Tomorrow- big cleanup of land dirt, then the sails go back on and we shall be sailing in Oslo fjord this weekend. Lots of boats still ashore with the winter covers still on. We are the first sailboat to get afloat. No power boats charging around yet so the next couple of months will be fine for sailing. |

Sad that you have to store your babies for long periods of time like that. Makes me wonder about the intelligence of anybody who claims to love sailing but refuses to move to milder climes where he can sail the whole year round. Hell, there's no excuse to stay where it's winter half the year. Load the boat up and head south. Life's too short to spend half of it huddled inside a stinking land dwelling breathing stale air and probably high doses of radon gas. Get serious. Leave that latitude behind before it kills you. With global warming everyone will be able to sail year round. Especially
those many miles inland. Ask Al Gore. Lloyd |

That's great, Edgar....we've had some beautiful sailing whether in NC the past month (in between the cold spells)...wish the weather was a bit more consistent but heck, at least we get to sail in wintertime... |

Hey, if it's less than 182 1/2 days, it's not "most of" the year. Tomorrow- big cleanup of land dirt, then the sails go back on and we shall be sailing in Oslo fjord this weekend. Lots of boats still ashore with the winter covers still on. We are the first sailboat to get afloat. Congrats. Did you have to bribe the boatyard? No power boats charging around yet so the next couple of months will be fine for sailing. This sounds like it could be the opening of another guns-on-boats thread. Anyway I hope you have a lot of nice sailing. We have done some, had a great regatta this past weekend. The mosquitos are already out though! Fresh Breezes- Doug King |

You do. You just have to maintain this constant barrage of propaganda to the contrary. We understand. It's like the people in Seattle saying "Y'know, it doesn't rain here all that much." Tomorrow- big cleanup of land dirt, then the sails go back on and we shall be sailing in Oslo fjord this weekend. That sounds excellent. I would love to sail there some time. I would also like to visit the Vasa. signed- Injun Ear (formerly known as Eagle Eye) |

It has a machine which is basically a huge fork lift with the lifting straps hanging from the arms. I have to unshackle my mainsheet and vang and top the boom right up so it can get in over the deck without fouling anything. |

No, I just stayed afloat until November when everyone else was out so I was in the front row with no other boat blocking me. There is a guy in the next row all ready to go in but he is blocked by another boat that has not even removed its winter covers yet. He is waiting a lot more patiently than I would be and does not like to ask the yard to get their act together and shift it! |
