![]() "Nathan Branden" wrote in message ... Went sailing last weekend, it started out great but after a few hours things went downhill. The wind died, strong currents and water in the diesel. Engine just quits, I take off the filter and drain a bunch of water out and manage to get it started. While doing this the anchor drags I wind up in a marshy coastal area, fortunately nothing hard up against the hull. I call for tow because I can't motor off of the marsh bench. Tow comes out 5 hours later, costs me $300. I get back to the dock on my own power for the last two miles and I start to get some chest pains. Next thing my arm is numb and there is a stabbing pain in the back. Try docking with this going on. I manage to get someone to help me and they call an ambulance. Off to the emergency room. They run EKGs and enzyme tests and find nothing. Then I come down with the most intense migrane ever, I throw up in the hospital. They keep me overnite. Taxi back to the car next morning, $157!!!!! The whole weekend cost me over $5,000! I still have to get the boat squared away. Look at the bright side it all could have been worse. Bummer, Nathan. Sorry for the mess, but I think you've used up your allotment of Murphy-type misfortune for this sailing season. The rest of the summer should be smooth sailing. So how was your first sail of the season? It would have been fine, were it not for the fact that Clover is still on the hard and will be for almost another month, thanks to the winter weather we've had the past three weeks. It's finally broken and we just got the winter cover off yesterday. Max |
