Default Segmented Mast for R. Nymph?

Hey,

Have my Rubens Nymph parts ready for assembly, all but the mast that is.
A question came to mind a moment ago as I was looking at the plans for
the mast: Since it's my intention to load this craft in the back of my
pickup for transport to/from the water, a solid 16-foot mast seems a bit
awkward and long. Is there a way to segment it into at least two parts
for easier "trailering," so to speak? The taper in the upper section
would seem to discourage this. Just wondering whether any of you guys
have done this.

Thanks,

JL

16 foot may not be as long or as awkward as you think. Before you spend any
money, just whip out a tape measure and look at how a one piece mast COULD
fit into the truck. Many people have 16 foot or longer kayaks and have no
problems loading them on and off roof racks. Obviously I don't know your
exact situation, just a thought.

Why don't you make a gunter rig, then you could have two ten foot
poles. This would look a lot nicer than a 16 foot pole hanging over
the ends of an 8 foot boat.

Why yes, of course! I have been staring at blueprints much too long.
Glad I didn't actually make or buy the sail yet. :-)

I have a scan of the gunter in John Gardners book if you want me to
send it over. Scotty
