Default power catamaran

Hello group members,

I am Bert Ottens from holland (europe)
i'm plannig to build a power catamaran 36f lenth 15f w.
I'm planning to build it from okume/glass/epoy.
i need two engines (probably around 150hp each)
and stern drives.
Is there anyone who knows prices of parts/engines/resin etc or has any
advice for building?

thanks for your reaction.

Hmm, since you ask I would suggest you get plans from a pro. Plans
won't tell you what mareials cost but how much you need. For materials
you should start look around locally and then on the internet.

http://www.multihulls.org/designlinks.html
On this web you find a list of links to designers. These are all
mostly designers of sailing multihulls but a few do power cats
too. Malcolm Tennant and Kurt Hughs do this I believe.

Allan Veth at Evecom may be able to help yo with both plans and
materials:

Alexander Verhuis (Alexander's Yacht Design I think) might do
power cat design but I haven't met him in many, many years.
Allan should be able to put you in touch with Alexander.

Cheers,

I am not trying to kill optimism, but the questions you ask indicate a
limited experience with boatbuilding. You are undertaking a huge job.
In answer to your questions about cost, I will say "lots and lots".

The glass/epoxy/wood and even the engines, unless this is a real
workboat, will constitute a minro portion of the cost of a cruising
cat of this size.

My advice about building, if you are aas inexperienced as you sound,
is to try something more realistic first.

If I have this all wrong, then sorry. I meant well.

I don't know about what resins are available in Europe, but if you are
talking about outboards, the brand new Yamaha 150hp 4-stroke or the new
Suzuki 140hp 4-stroke are both worth taking a look at. I'm a Yamaha man
myself. My boat will get the Yamaha 115hp 4-stroke.
