In the movie "Spirited Away" (Japanese anime), there is a fascinating
barrel-shaped boat that is rowed/sculled with a single oar at the front - not really "bow" because the boat is round. So the boat is _pulled_ forward, whereas sculling usually seems to mean pushing (the oar rests on the transom.) The Japanese oar is vertical; there is a T-shaped handle at the top...
