Are we sure we are using the correct term here..
IMHO. A boom crutch is just a vertical pole with a cradle end to receive the boom. Usually some kind of strap to keep the boom in place. The whole crutch would be removed and stored when not in use. Then there is the Gallows which is a perminent metal and wood frame that reaches across the aft end of the cabin trunk or even over the cockpit. This usually has a centerline notch, port and stbd notch for the boom to rest in. The gallows could make an effective support for a Bimini but I can't imagine how you could use it for a radar since the boom would hit the radar.. Steve s/v Good Intentions |
