Final 6-person Avon Offshore Canister Raft Freebie Update
I got this in the mail today, and this is my response.
Note that the free raft offer still stands. I'm just getting it moving; the raft will be recertified whether someone takes it or I do. For those of you who arrived late to this evolving party, rather than clutter this up with other stuff, look either to the archives of the list or the boats section of Craigslist/TampaBay for full discussion. AND!! DO NOT CALL THEM UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO PROCEED!!! IT'S THEIR BUSY SEASON AND THEY'RE OVER THEIR HEADS AS IT IS!! /Rant Sorry to shout - but they've gotten dozens of calls on this free raft, and can't deal with it. I would not commit to recertification if it wasn't worth having, but they don't get paid to talk to you about it... Thanks. L8R, y'all ----- Original Message ----- From: BRAD WILSON To: Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2006 10:08 AM $984.34 to certify this raft assuming the inflation valve and bottle pass hydro testing. add $214 if it needs replacing. please remove xxxx@msn and from your cc thank you Hi, Brad, So that we can get this show on the road, I will commit to the recertification of my raft. That is, you have my credit card, and whether it takes a new bottle or not, the costs are covered. Please proceed. As much as even a coastal 4 valise replacement costs, if nobody steps up to the plate to take it by Thursday, I'll retrieve it and use it for however long it lasts. However, I do expect that there will be a taker. My apologies for all the (unexpected) time you've had to spend on this. If there's a taker as expected, they'll pay you in full and fetch it, and I'll consult with you for my replacement. I'll pass this decision along to all interested parties with, again, the admonition not to call unless they're prepared to both make the payment and take it out of your shop to free your space. Thanks again. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not." |
