Default Drilling Bilge Holes

I have a 2850 Bayliner Contessa Fly bridge 1983. I would like to install
another bilge pump and breather for the new holding tank, both need another
hole through the port side of the boat. Is their any directions, book, or
writings that will tell me how to do this?

Thank you!

I've seen "through hull fittings" described in boat maintenance books at
the public library. A search of the Internet on "installing through hull
fittings" might bring up something online.

====================================

If the hull has a wood core at the point where the hole will be, you
need to take special precautions to seal the wood with epoxy.

If solid fiberglass, just use a hole saw, an appropriately sized drill
motor, and have at it. Bed the fitting with a good polysulfide
bedding compound, assemble loosely for a few days, retighten,
and trim off the squeeze out.

If this is for a holding tank pumpout, give some thought to the
esthetics (not to mention the environment).
