I was contemplating the idea of purchasing one of those, pump the oil
out by your self components. One boater told him he really liked his, i was wondering of anyone else here has tried it? I find it might be a good investment so you can change your oil throughout the season to run at optimal performace. Thanks for posts.. |

I use this one now and really like it a lot. Easy, fast and clean.

I just bought a "Topsider MVP Oil Changer" from West Marine and it works
quite well. Just pump up some vacuum and let it suck out your engine oil while you do something more interesting. Seems to be well made and not likely to get broken as its all metal construction. Got it on sale for $40 Cdn which is 30% less than the website price of $40USD. By the way, make sure your engine is fully warmed up before you use any of these devices. The one in the first picture that Dan posted is made by Tempo. I have
one and love it. It is dead simple. Works like a charm and requires nothing more than a few easy strokes of the handle. I tried several pumps and drill powered pumps in the past and was not satisfied with them. Dan Best wrote: I use this one now and really like it a lot. That's what I use. I can't imagine paying anyone to do this for me. The
only messy part can be the oil filter. I use an aluminum baking pan, papaer towels and a ziplock. Capt. Jeff |

I keep a pack of large disposable diapers for removing the oil filter. They absorb virtually all the oil from the filter. Perhaps I should also use them myself, because after every oil change I discover that a drop of oil has somehow managed to magically fly across the cabin and end up on the Ultrasuede cushions. |
