Default satellite radio on a boat?

I don't think XM or Sirius guarantee coverage more than 200 miles off the
continental US shores. Because of the satellite orbits XM is iffy in the
Bahamas and cuts out completely south of there. Sirius seems to work
reasonably well in the Virgin Islands and fairly well down to St. Martin.

hey, I was in a manly truck today in WA state which had XM?
Xsomething- in a silver deck-a-butts sized box. $13 a month and no
commercials. Opera, Jazz, Industrial DeathThrashMetal, Classical,..
both Country AND Western!
So have any of you floaties tried something like this? Does it work
everywhere? Does it work in Mexico? Wow, that Rancharita burns yer
brain after a while.
Are there tech details to consider? My boat is 12v/220ah. Is it
commercial free until they sell enough to become penetrating and then
it's the SOS? Are you borrowing money in the form of a subscription?
Thanks and keep paddling.
