I usually don't get all that interested in other people's cruising web sites
but this one is an inspiration and a testament to just going out and doing it. http://www.Donnalange.com Surviving the conditions that killed Ken Barnes' boat and dream makes her look pretty good but that's probably just a matter of the big 44 footer hitting one of those oddly shaped waves that are out there. She's living the dream with a fraction of the boat, money, and experience that most of use would consider the bare minimum for sailing to Bermuda in the summer, let alone Cape Horn. She can sing too. We should all buy her CD to support this fellow traveler. http://www.donnalange.com/images/02_...er_Is_Wide.mp3 (Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage) What a contrast to the folks like the one who clogged up the Ken Barnes thread with contemptuous comments after whining to all of us about how difficult single handing around Maine was in a bigger boat than this lady has taken trans Atlantic and to the great southern ocean. -- Roger Long |

: She can sing too. Pop over to alt.binaries.hdtv and download the high definition video of the Pussycat Dolls latest video in .ts 1080i format. Play it with VLC (freeware) from www.videolan.org..... See the chicky in the TINY peach satin shorts with the Adidas 3-stripes down the front? I never heard her sing solo and I DON'T CARE!...(c; Beautiful Girls, even if you're not into their songs of love. SOMEBODY is very lucky, indeed.... I think I'm more in Lust than in Love...hee hee. BTW, today is my first day on this website. The HDTV files are HUGE but the picture quality is simply amazing as is the 5-channel stereo sound of the .ts HDTV files. These are DIRECT, uncompressed video files, not mpeg or avi or DivX. Most impressive on my 21" LCD monitor at full resolution. We're gonna need another cache of DVD+Rs. Luckily, Circuit City has NexTech DVDs on SALE! A 25 DVD spindle is $3.99 with no apparent limit. The guy in front of me is another addict. He bought $90 worth...(c; I only bought $50. Bandwidth is our FRIEND! On Usenetserver.com's beasts, Xnews tells me we're 23,450,445 messages UNREAD. It's gonna be a long week on HDTV....(c; ONE HDTV video music song is 300MB... up to 600MB of data after decoding! It plays about 5 minutes... |

Larry ,, I love you man.
All these goofballs going on and on about some nut who gets his yacht sunk and you are true to the cause... I don't see old Larry sailing off around the world alone .. no way. I see you knocking on the door, the door of a lost sailor ..whose boat just sunk.. and the beautiful lady of the house answers and old Larry says "I'm here to offer my support at this difficult time" as you place the 4 bottles of wine, the cd "love poems" and your arm around this sobbing beauty. Roger ,, I remember reading about Donna Lange some time ago.
In her biography section of the web page it mentioned a bad auto accident in which people died. Did she cause the accident? It almost seems like she has a death wish. ================ "Roger Long" wrote in message ... Yes, these stories and sailing expeditons by Donna Lange are very
compelling and its clear she needs more support. I've sent some via Paypal and hope many other sailors will also donate &/or purchase her good music. Other ideas/ ways to support her? Also, Roger Long- you're great to read! good sailing, John Reeves lower Ches., Va. ------- Roger Long wrote: I usually don't get all that interested in other people's cruising web sites but this one is an inspiration and a testament to just going out and doing it. http://www.Donnalange.com ------- Don w. wrote: Agreed. Charlie,, is this any way to speak to a fellow sailor.
With your bad attitude, you should be off single handing around the world. This way, you could only annoy yourself. I'd rather speak with Larry. He lives by the sailor code; "if this boats a rockin, don't come a knockn". ====== "Charlie Morgan" wrote in message ... No. It seems like you have a "stupid" wish. CWM |

You mean like respect for doing things light years beyond what you whine about being difficult? "Fellow sailor". Hmm, I've got to thing about the meaning of that term a bit. It reminds me of something I heard of a flight examiner saying once after a flight test. "Son, there are pilots and there are aviators. Here's the piece of paper that says you are now a pilot. Don't go out and kill yourself now thinking that you're an aviator." -- Roger Long |

I think they were, initially, trying to figure out how to SALVAGE the boat, to hell with Barnes. You couldn't see it direct, but you could feel it. Nobody died, except one ego, so no harm done. I wonder who pays the bill for the rescue, which probably cost a hundred grand or so. They'll be in court for years trying to force the insurance company to pony up for the boat. I've never seen a policy with a stupidity adventurer clause. Me, I follow a very important rule: "It is far, far better to be standing on the dock, wishing you were at sea.....Than to be at sea, pukin' your guts out, wishing you were standing on the dock." I've been to both and the former is where I don't mind being....at my age. I've always been concerned with stupids putting to sea, alone, for these adventures. You just KNOW they're in DIRECT VIOLATION of internation laws concerning "keeping a sharp watch" on duty 24/7 while underway. They are NOT omnipotent while the boat is sailing off on its own while they're asleep. But, for some stupid reason, the world lets them all get away with it and even ENCOURAGES it! Remember, Charleston is where lots of Around Alone races started, with all the promos and spam-coated boats. I cannot feel sorry for someone who does something THAT stupid....no matter how much money he has or spends on it.... |
