Default fuel sender leaking

Have 100 gal fuel tank that was just topped off. Fuel gauge sender appears
to be leaking at the gasket. All screws are tight. Any help in repairing
would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem, temporarily fixed by smearing on an automotive
silicone product rated for fuel. Took two applications. The first slowed
things down enough to clean up the surface for a better bond. Of course
you'll have to actually fix the problem once you've dropped the fuel
level down a bit.

Be careful placing and driving the bolts/screws as they are "keyed" (not
evenly spaced) and can very easily be stripped.

If this is gasoline, try "Seal-all" purchased at auto stores as a tempory fix.
We have had very good luck sealing gas tanks while leaking. Good luck, Jim

Default fuel sender leaking

I had this happen to me and it was a real disaster, fuel leaking all
into the bilge, alarm going off, the works. I tried three different
marinas, one guy went after it three times to no avail.

I finally covered the whole damn thing with grey MarineTex, which looks
like hell and I will never be able to replace the sender without major
surgery, but it doesn't leak.

What a ****ty way to fix something like this, though.

Capt. Jeff
