Hello ,, I posted a note here a day or two ago. Asking for info on a cruise
from the Portland, Maine area to
Cape Cod, specifically Provincetown.

It went on as Yellow Man. My computer has more than one email and news
service, I guess.

Well .. first thing you know. Old Basil Rathbone [ aka R Long ] posts that
he has uncovered my
secret identity. Duh? Why is my posting name so important. I don't know.
But Basil thinks it is, I guess.

He then attacks me personally. Why? I have no idea. All I did was post a
note for some info.

Basil feels that this is "his" newsgroup. "He" is in charge.

All I wanted was some informed information. Not a personal lecture from the
newsgroup.

Hope you all are having a grand day.

That's incorrect.

It's my group and I'm in charge,

except when I'm not. :-)

I once got some good advice from an expert on such things. He told me
that if I'm getting an unsatisfactory response when I approach people,
then I needed to change my approach.

It's easier that way.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to attack you, just recognize your, err, "special
status". I was over the line however and I apologize.

Think of this place like a bar. Anyone can walk in and you don't have to
deal with everyone. If you want to come in and go over and drink a beer
alone, that's fine. However, if you walk in wearing a mask, you can expect
to be treated a little differently.

As for your trip:

Hard to beat a cruising guide, even for places you know well. I didn't get
one for my last trip because I know my way around that part of the world
pretty well and tend to avoid places where you have to know who to ask about
things like moorings. I bought one after I got back and have been realizing
while browsing though it how much it would have contributed to enjoyment of
the trip.

I spent a lot of time sailing around Boston Harbor years ago. Fascinating
if a bit hectic. The islands are worth spending time in. Sunset over the
city as the lights come on is quite a sight. If you can get a dock or
mooring, there is something about walking around a large city knowing that
you will be returning to sleep on a sailboat capable of going long distances
that is just incredibly romantic. The city will look different to you even
if you have spent a lot of time there.

If I were doing your trip and had a crew however, I would take the offshore
route via Stellwagan Bank and look at whales. There isn't a lot between
Portland and P town that is nicer than the rest of the Cape.

I only lurk here. I spend my time in a much rougher place than this.
The only thing I have to ask of you, is do you want some cheese with
that whine?

Now go over in the corner and ask yourself, Why are people being so
mean to me?

Hint: Attitude

So, tell me, again, why you felt the need to hide who you were, magically,
for JUST THAT POST?

Here he goes again: After kicking like a mule in all directions, so
much that he himself feels he has to use a fake screenname when he
wants something, he whines like a little girl when Big Bad Roger says
'boo' to him.
Have some dignity, man. And if you must use several screen names to
trick the people you annoyed or insulted into helping you, be a bit
computer literate and don't make it so totally obvious. Duh.

It is just the computer .. when I or someone switches the email then the
newsgroup thing switches too.

I'm liking Yellow May though.

Look him up on Google... I wonder if he still lives.

King Yellowman has an incredible history in Reggae music. His upbringing at
the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston and being albino in Jamaica were two
obstacles the he overcame and went on to be (at one time) the biggest reggae
artist since Bob Marley.
After winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston, Yellow went on
to excite reggae crowds all over Jamaica and the rest of the world with his
boastful and sometimes bodacious lyrics. His ability to ride rhythm and
excite a crowd made Yellow an instant hit in Jamaica. He also began to work
with the Ace Sound System in St. Thomas and drew big crowds at his dancehall
performances. Later in his career, Yellow began to spread out and work for a
number of different producers, sometimes releasing as many as five albums
per year. This led to a recording contract with CBS Records. Yellowman
recorded one album with them before he was diagnosed with jaw cancer and was
given six months to live. This was in 1986. After surgery an extended leave
of absence from the record industry, Yellowman began his comeback with the
song "Blueberry Hill", and his career was re-launched. His first album for
RAS came from producer Phillip 'Fatis' Burrell and was called "Yellow Like
Cheese". Coincidentally this was the start of a long and fruitful
relationship with RAS and Yellowman and also RAS and 'Fatis' and his
exterminator production. Yellowman has always been very professional to work
with and always a respectful and reliable human being. He has managed to
outlive his predicted fate of death and his performances are incredibly
lively as he seems to have an unlimited amount of stage energy. We can only
hope for the best for Yellowman. He has continued his hard work and his
devotion to his family is to be complimented
