Default Discovery 32

Can anybody tell me about the "Discovery 32' is it fit for cruising?, I'm
looking at one that apparently has been from Vancouver Island to Australia
and back 16 years ago but can't find the old owner, I woul be happy for any
info about this model.
Thanks Jim

I had a Discovery 32 for several years and it is a reasonably good fast
sailing boat. Designed by Derrick Hatfield in about 1962 it was the first of
several designs called "Discovery" that included a 37 and 42. Good friends
of mine sailed their 37 through the Pacific Ocean without trouble. My boat
was the first and had the name "Thurza" when I sold it. The original name
was "Turna" and raced very successfully for many years in the Vancouver
area.
Since you are in Canada, I would suggest that you call Derrick Hatfield
(Naval Architects) in Vancouver and ask him for the history of the boat. He
will know something about it. Also since the boat in question has been back
and forth to Australia it seems that it would be suited for long distance
cruising. What is the boats name?
