I inquired here a few years ago about Chart Table Linoleum.. However my need
was so small it was hardly worth the effort to follow the leads.

A varnished hardwood chart table surface is pretty but not practical when
you trying to wake a pair of dividers across a chart or pencil in you plot
or notes. What you really need is a surface with some give and that will
keep you chart from sliding around.

All the ship board chart tables have Chart Table Linoleum on them.. I kinda
took it for granted until I needed a chunk for my present boat.

I had looked at ordinary floor covering linoleum and discounted it because
it is always embossed and wouldn't work for drawing lines or writing.

Today I was driving by a home remodel job and saw a roll of new linoleum
scrap, at the curb. At first glance appeared not to be embossed.. I went
back for a closer look and discovered that it too was slightly embossed. I
was about to pass it up, when I looked at the back side.. Hey, why not..The
back side was a dull mat finish, no emboss print thru or fabric backing..
Plus this must have been some expenisive stuff because it is about 1/8"
thick..

Only question left, is how much of my shiny varnished chart table do I want
to cover.. I have decided to make this a removeable piece so if I spill
coffee on it or take water down the hatch, I can remove it to mop up.

Another problem solved.. Now on to the next..
