Default Furuno Radar External Buzzer

Has anyone added the External Alarm Buzzer to a Furuno?
Does anyone have the specs on the buzzer; I'm trying to figure out why it
lists for $55.

If you get the answer to your question or figure out a cheap(er) way let

me
or "us" know, please. I have been told that the external alarm / buzzer
still is not loud enough ( unverified).

I have the Furuno external buzzer. I don't think it cost as much as that - I
think I would remember if it had (but I am in France - maybe different price
structure here). I find it very loud - but I am a sailor. Maybe if you drive
a motorboat you might need something louder - I am no expert on motorboats
having never driven one.

The "Watchman" alarm on my furuno 1621 isn't very loud, but its
frequency is so annoying that it never failed to wake me up... (on a
sailboat). If it started not to do it, I would simply stick a piezo
crystal to the display and connect it to one of these cheap amplifiers
with louspeaker that Radio Shack sells.

hello
the best way to do this is to wire a relay on to the buzzer output of
the radar, then you could put any size of buzzer on.
