Furuno GPS NEMA data cable connectors - anything else works?
Looking to make up a spare GPS-laptop cable - don't want to pay the
$30-35 that the official factory cable with connector and pigtails costs just for a backup spare. Furuno says it's proprietary and no other sources. The connector is 6 pins, looks like a 7 pin DIN without a center pin. Anybody know if that works - or something else? BTW - for my old Furuno to laptop serial port - the cable connections are Furuno black (ground) goes to pin 5 on the DB9 serial female connector and Furuno white (signal) goes to pin 2. The serial port specs are 4800, 1, par=No, 1, Xon/Xoff. |

Try http://www.gpsoz.com.au/cables.htm, if it is not listed, e-mail him. He
would probably make it "Jessie" wrote in message ... Output from the Furuno goes to pin 2 at the RS232, input to the Furuno comes from pin 3, and, as you rightly assume, the ground pin at the RS232 is pin 5. -- Remove "nospam" from return address. |

I just bid 9.99 plus 5 s/h on this item.. It's a dutch auction for a total
of 4 cable assemblies.. There are only 4 bids right now and if there are no other bids before it closes. The final price for everyone will be what ever the lowest winning bid it.. confusing but it works.. Steve |
