Inflatable Boat Repair
My old inflatable has become porous. It's made of the neoprene, not hypalon.
Have heard about some liquid that impregnates the rubber from the inside. One is supposed to sip it into the chambers. Please if anyone knows where to find it (web address). Any experience? Thx in advance. |

Used it on an old black Avon Redcrest years ago. The dinghy used to deflate in about 2 days. After using this stuff, it was as hard as a brick after 6 weeks! Not recommended by the makers of course, it wouldn't be, would it? I would not deflate and roll up the dinghy once I had used this stuff, but if you are one of these guys who leaves his boat inflated in a marina, it's the tops! Once injected through the valves, you will have to roll the dinghy around like a tyre to get the liquid to coat all over the inside surfaces, good excercise for the not-too-thin brigade! Inflatable Boat Repair
West Marine sells the stuff. . .it's around $40. Sorry I can't recall it's
name. It's a latex-type liquid poured into air fill hole, after which the dink in rotated in all directions to spread it on interior. Several people have reported good results with both Hypalon and PVC dinks. You can call the manufacturer to ask about suitability for your particular application. From: "Len Krauss" West Marine sells the stuff. . .it's around $40. Sorry I can't recall it's name I tried some of it and it didn't work all that well for me, it smelled like and had the consitency of latex paint. When I was pouring it in I was wondering if I just paid $40 for a quart of latex paint. I did all the rolling and flipping but it still had a slow leak. Dennis |
