heating - other than a warm body
I've spent the last couple of hours on google trying to find an innovative
way of heating the cabin. there seems to be plenty of marine lpg/kerosene/alcohol or wood heaters on the market that might do the job with their own degree of safety. has anyone found anything that would provide cabin heating that could be powered from a solar panel & (3)battery bank? |

I can't imagine that a setup like that would perform better than simply
letting the sun heat the boat. Not trying to be a smartass, but with all the efficiency losses, you're not going to end up with much heat. In the winter, I have all the covers off my pilothouse windows, and it acts like a nice greenhouse. I put a fan in the hatch where it blows that warm air down into the saloon, and it works very well. Maybe you can look at how to just let more sun into the boat during the day, then insulate and close off at night. -- Keith __ Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference. You don't need electrical for a Dickinson diesel/kerosene cabin heater. It is try that it is easier to get them started if you use the little booster fan. I have used both the Dickinson cabin heater and galley stoves on my last two boats. I'm even using cabin heater in my work shop and I most times I don't have a battery available for that little fan.
