I have been following all the posts about AIS with interest. But I
want more. Not only do I want to know what ships are out there; I
want them to know that I am out there. So, I e-mailed this company
that manufactures and sells the popular receiver. I have no
connection with the company other than seriously wanting a
transponder/receiver I can afford. Here is their reply.

There are plans for an AIS transponder aimed at the recreational
market. We
should have more details available in the next couple of months.
