Radar with software MaxSea? It seems that software does not recognize C-map
chart card in Radar unit, or I'm doing something wrong?

Have experience with several installations of Furuno vx2 and MaxSea systems.

First you need to check that you have MaxSea NavNet Commander or similar,
since MaxSea is also sold in versions without NavNet support.

Second you need to check that your MaxSea dongle was configured for C-Map
charts,
think that your supplier could do this. If not you should get the three
configuration
codes and enter them manually. This is done from startmenu - MaxSea
programgroup -
Configuration codes (don't remeber exactly from the top of my head)
Might also be that you got a paper (not the manual) with your MaxSea copy
that has the
three configuration codes (code1, code2, code3). If your dongle is not
configured for
C-Map chart it will not work... the good news is that the three
configuration codes should
be supplied for free from either your dealer or MaxSea directly. When/if you
apply for these
you should have your dongles serial number at hand.

Third
If the above does not work it might be that your software version in the
Furuno vx2 is not new
enough. You might be able to get the the newest software version from your
Furuno supplier.
And also istructions how to use the software. It is 3 files that you put on
a empty FAT formatted
SD card and insert into your vx2 unit and boot it up... this takes about
1-2minutes and your radar/plotter
will have the newest software.

Regards, TomS

If you are using the latest version of MaxSea (12.5), it no longer supports C-Map, if you stay with 11.something you should be okay but you will not have the weather routing module. JP

This can't be true??? I'm using ver.12.0.1. cr06. Manual tells that the
MaxSea will automatically recognize C-Map card. Manual came with this
software. On MaxSea web site there is information about compatibility with
C-Map charts and NavNet. They claim that software is fully compatibile, not
mentioning versions of software.

It is Commander. I receive radar echo from NavNet, but not the chart.

Dont know how to check this. Actualy I can read the default C-Map chart
allready installed on PC with MaxSea software, but when I go to Open Chart I
se only 3 default charts: C-Map NT, Mapmedia and Planisphere. Same with
radar turned On or Off.

If the above does not work it might be that your software version in the
Furuno vx2 is not new

Checked, software is the latest one, .08.

Not sure about MaxSea but most software have options as to where to
look on the computer for charts. Try configuration and look for this
kind of option.

Yes MaxSea will recognize C-Map NTMax charts. I think seanseamour
it talking about C-Map CM93 charts.

Your Furuno sofware version is the newest. And as your MaxSea is showing
radar all network settings are OK. Check that your MaxSea's Chart source
settings
are correct. If your radar source settings shows for example NavNet1 you
know that this unit
should be among one of the 3 chart sources you can select.
The reason you have the option of 3 chart sources is that you could have 3
Navnet units
and MaxSea could read charts from all 3.

The problem you have is most certainly that your dongle is not configured
for C-Map charts
so what you need to do is send a mail to "MaxSea Support"
supportATmaxsea.fr and ask
them to confirm that your MaxSea dongle is configured for C-Map charts and
if not send you the
3 codes. You'll need to supply them with Your dongle number, it is printed
on your dongle and is
seven digits long. You'll get 3 configuration codes, code 1 is 7 digits
and/or letters, code 2 and 3
is 8 digits and/or letters.

Hope this helps!
Regs, TomS

Just to keep you informed, MaxSea and Furuno forensic departments find out
that ver. 12.0 does not read C-map. I need 12.5 or 12.6. I'm waiting for a
new software.
