: Have a nice week end! ... I just think for a thousand US dollars we should get something built in a SEALED, watertight enclosure with LOTS of screws, not 4, and with WATERTIGHT MARINE connectors, not wires shoved under a spring clip whos only support is the printed circuit board it's soldered to....like a cheap keyboard from Walmart. Case in point. There's an Icom AT-130 tuner mounted OUTSIDE, right on top of the aft cabin house just aft of the mizzen. It came with another travesty of quick-connector on a pigtail, but had a stuffing tube I could use by removing the STUPID pigtail and solder the control cable wires straight to the PC control board inside. The case has a proper o-ring seal and LOTS of heavy bolts to hold it SEALED. I've seen the tuner awash in spray from over the rail offshore. The inside of that little cheap tuner looks like the day I installed it because it's SEALED and DOESN'T BREATHE! Raymarine, sir, can do much better for 1215 US dollars..... Larry -- If the damned government isn't going to enforce immigration laws, can they at LEAST park an ICE paddy wagon in front of WalMart so I can find a parking place?! |

Larry My Icom AT-130 manual's installation instructions specify removing the "water drain screw" which faces downward following the preferred vertical or horizontal mounting. I, too, always thought that was a cruel joke. Old Chief Lynn |

Old Chief Lynn Hmm....after I got through cursing the stupid pigtail with the OPEN connector sticking out of the AT-130, I was in no mood to read the manual, so didn't remove the plug....or even see a plug. I'm just disappointed there's no fitting to put 3PSI of pressurized dry nitrogen into the box...with a little pressure guage I can check when I want....like the old Navy tuners had that always read zero when you looked at them...(c; Larry -- If the damned government isn't going to enforce immigration laws, can they at LEAST park an ICE paddy wagon in front of WalMart so I can find a parking place and make the checkout line SHORTER?! |
