The Clintons have gone out of their way to make the appointment public and appear to be all but certain..... without actually waiting for Obama's team to formally make a decision or announcment. Big Bill has already agreed to cooperate fully in the vetting process, and Hillary's staff has routinely leaked that the process is well underway. If he choses Richardson or someone else instead, the Hillary followers are going to scream bloody murder. Dissed twice. They have him boxed in pretty nicely. That's not my take. Andrea Mitchell first broke the news - and she said it came from Obama insiders. Obama will do what he wants, and he wants her. Otherwise he would have his "insiders" leak that it won't be her. That wouldn't hurt him at all. He will soon be "The President of the United States of America." The "political" shows are getting a little tedious. They latch on to something like this - especially if it involves the Clintons - and just yak yak yak like gossips about it. Only way to express their "power." They're not news people, they're gossips. Obama will pretty much do what he damn well pleases. He's got the balls for it, and the mandate from the American people. Elections matter. Next chance to change that comes in 2 years. If Hillary stays in the Senate, she could be a thorn in his paw. He wants her in the cabinet. Working for him, at his command. The Clintons are has-beens in the Presidential arena. Unless Obama screws up. Some of you guys are just as bad in judging Hillary Clinton as the other side is about GWB. Everything is an effing Clinton conspiracy. Hey, remember "48 Hours?" There's a new sheriff in town. --Vic But Sarah Palin keeps on giving! |

When you are vetted by the FBI for a high level job, all manner of people are contacted about you. There are dozens of people who have been contacted about Hillary for this potential job. But Hillary or Bill leaked it. Right. Do you seriously believe the vetting process for Secretary of State is the same as an FBI background check for a security clearance? Come on Harry, you know better than that. Obama's cabinet selections and considerations should be highly kept secrets until ready to be announced, especially for jobs involving national security. Obama should know that. The Clintons should know it even better. It's a power play, and what makes it sickening is that it puts individuals (Hillary) before the best interests of the country. Well, I say kill 'em all. Oh wait - that was the pirate thread. Sorry. My bad. :) Maybe they arrrrrrrrrrr pirates. |

He's off to a great start. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...tory?track=rss ~~ snerk ~~ I doubt he'll have eight years of failure in about every area of importance, ala Bush. More likely 4 years. With the economic meltdown going on, he is probably a one term POTUS. |

Unfortunately for all the idealists like Harry who are anxiously awaiting all kinds of social reforms, it just ain't gonna happen. The state of the economy will be the only measuring stick for Obama's successes or failures. Everything else has become secondary. I wish him luck. I sure wouldn't want the job. Eisboch |

Meanwhile, for many, we inhaled another breath of Congressional disgust today. Last week, Pelosi and Reid were hitting all the airwaves, advocating and pushing for a bailout of the automotive industry, particularly GM. Both recommended using part of the 700B bailout package to make secure the jobs of the employees and to protect the benefits of those retired. Today, both have demanded that GM, Ford and Chrysler present by Dec 2nd, a business plan that shows how any form of government assistance will make any difference, before they will even consider a bailout package. What changed their minds? Eisboch |

What changed their minds? The fact that 90% of the American public is ****ed off at being sold a bill of goods about the true nature of the auto bailout. I said it then when it was first proposed and I'll say it now - the average taxpaying schmuck who pays $30/40 co-pay everytime they go to the doc and carries 20% co-pay on major medical is not going to stand for supporting zero co-pays for UAW retirees and the feather bedding "job security" for unproductive workers. You want to hear an ear full about GM and the UAW, stop by your local post office and open a conversation about it with people. You'll be lucky to get out with having hearing damage. Pelosi and Reid saw the way the wind was blowing and, with the true conviction of the weak willed, changed tack. Notice that Barry O hasn't chimed in on this in any significant way? |
