Nice guy and he's doing one hell of a job on a Torino. Who is "Jack"? Eisboch It's me. Tom stopped by and gave me a six-pack of some good ale and we talked a while. Same feelings here... he's a genuine good guy and welcome back anytime. Even if he's not a Gamecock / Spurrier fan. :-) What year's your Torino? I had a Merc Montego Sport 1970 Mine's a 1970 Torino GT. 351C 4V, auto, AC, power disc brakes. It needs work, but here's a pic. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/JackG/torino.jpg Kind of starting a resto / mod on it right now. Nice! Something about that vintage car captures my interest. Never went for the real "oldies" (although I appreciate them). I like the muscle car era. Eisboch |

It's a very clean car, but Jack has pretty much located everything to put it back to rights. Love the black color. |

Nice! Thanks. Something about that vintage car captures my interest. * Never went for the real "oldies" (although I appreciate them). I had a '70 Torino GT in my senior year in high school. It was white with red interior, and had that yellow/red "laser" stripe down the side. This black one is my early mid-life crisis. Plus I love fabricating and pulling wrenches, so it's therapeutic. Funny story... I could have bought a '69 Super Bee, twin ram 383, parked but all matching in good shape back in '83 or so for $500. Passed on it. Duh! Another "one that got away" story... I like the muscle car era. Yeah, me too. Too many cars, not enough time. :-) Jack |

Speaking of gas prices, now that the supply/demand basis of our economy has driven gas prices down, the Fed now wants to raise the federal tax on gas by 10 cents a gallon (12-15 cents for diesel) and is encouraging individual states to also raise their taxes. You can't win. Eisboch |

Have you seen what Oregon wants to do. Charge per mile driven for vehicles registered in the state. They wanted us to reduce burning dino-fuel, well we did. Their revenue took a hit. Now their coffers are empty and they are in a panic. Why is it that the state can't ever take a pay cut? |

You can't win. Eisboch In principal, I favor raising fuel taxes if the money raised is spent on road projects or ways to improve efficiency of cars and trucks. The problem is, the funds raised aren't earmarked for transportation. I spent an hour down at the boatyard this week helping a buddy haul and winterize his boat. Another friend was there (ok...it was an excuse to get out of the house and shoot the ****), a guy who is a much more avid fisherman than I am. He has a 28' boat with two big outboards on it. His boat is for sale. He can afford the gas for it whatever it costs, but thinks it is "stupid" to be burning "so much gas" for a hobby. So, as soon as his current boat is sold, he's downsizing to a 21-23' something or other. The way things are today economically, I think it smart to be very cautious about spending liquid assets. Obama is inheriting a world of woe. |

It is really a progrram connected to the Insurance industry but that's another story. As to Harrys comment, he better hang on to his money, Obama and Pelosi are talking $1.50 tax on gas per gallon cause "we can afford it". It's a middle class tax hike, nothing less... |
