As long as the link begin with "http://..." all browsers/newsreaders
should correct handle this as a hyperlink even if there is no space
between the text and "http://...".
On the contrary, there MUST be a space after the hyperlink, otherwise
the following text (up to the next space or line shift) may or will be
treated as part of the hyperlink.

Although this basically is true, there are nowadays some servers that
neither need nor want/expect "www." to be used.
I don't recall a specific URL with this behaviour on the fly, but I've
seen URL's causing error when adding "www." to a URL that initially
don't use this, like in this example:

http://somedomain.com - OK!
http://www.somedomain.com - ERROR: 404 Page not found!
