Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger Symbolize Where the U.S. Could be Headed

MADISON, Wisc., Feb. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- A few weeks ago, Bruce
Springsteen and Pete Seeger sang "This Land is Your Land" at the
inauguration concert in front of 750,000 people on the Washington D.C.
Mall. Though he left the Communist Party in 1950, Seeger has Marxist
associations.

"This Land is Your Land" was written by Woody Guthrie, who also had
Marxist associations throughout his life. Guthrie wrote the song in
response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." At the inauguration,
Seeger agreed to play the song if the original verses of the song were
re-inserted.

In context, the inserted verses speak against private property rights.
Also, they show workers in relief lines, leaving the impression that
people are being exploited by capitalism. Christianity was alluded to by
including the words "in the shadow of the steeple," which showed the
church not helping the people.

"There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me;
Sign was painted, it said private property;
But on the back side it didn't say nothing;
That side was made for you and me.

In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me."

In a 2000 interview with Mother Jones magazine, Seeger said, "I'm still
a Communist, in the sense that I don't believe the world will survive
with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer."

A few weeks ago, the San Diego Unified school district offered an
apology to Seeger after trying to ban him in 1960 from performing
because of his Marxist leanings. The American Civil Liberties Union
intervened to help him and he was able to perform.

Bruce Springsteen joined Seeger at the inauguration. Springsteen
promotes himself as the working-class hero despite being a
multi-millionaire. Springsteen recently released an average album called
'Working On A Dream' and performed at the Super Bowl.

Pete Seeger is a Unitarian Universalist, a false religion that
emphasizes tolerance and respect and incorporates Jewish, Christian and
other faith traditions, but has no creed or doctrine according to
ApologeticsIndex.org. They believe that personal experience, conscience,
and reason should be the final authority.

Gotta love religious crackpots; they work so hard at poisoning minds.
