It seems to me from watching and reading the various media outlets and catching the buzz word phrases and talking points of both the lefty lefts and the righty rights that the lefties have adopted a "we are smarter, we are better, we are the enlightened, we are right (correct) attitude. It's at the expense of those who don't share their viewpoints by referring to their "inferior" status. The words "elitist" and "snob" come to mind very quickly. The righty rights have not picked up this habit yet, at least not to the degree the lefty lefts have. Examples are available daily right here in this newsgroup. Eisboch Most of the "righty rights" here are as dumb as a doorknob. Loogy is a lefty; he's also dumb as a doorknob. You're a moderate righty, and I don't think you have been accused of being dumb. |

Extremists tend to make sweeping claims or judgments on little or no evidence, and they have a tendency to confuse similarity with sameness. That is, they assume that because two (or more) things, events, or persons are alike in some respects, they must be alike in most respects. The sloppy use of analogy is a treacherous form of logic and has a high potential for false conclusions. SNIP Seems our friend JPS is an "extremist".. Hope he never buys a gun...snerk |

You would be pleased to know that in another newsgroup that I infrequently visit I am considered to be very much to the left. And dumb. It's all relative. I admit though, Olbermann personifies the elitist attitude to which I was referring. He's not helping unite anybody, that's for sure. Eisboch I prefer Rachel. More cerebral than Keith, and she answers emails. But I do watch Keith once or twice a week. |

Eisboch Olbermann is making money, same as O'Reilly -- they're both pompous asses at their worst and sensible at their best. Glenn Beck is insane and Sean Hannity is a liar. What's the other newsgroup, rec.welovehannity, rec.colddeadhands, alt.armeggeddonnow? |

Not bad, IMO considering he's only been in office 3 months. http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/browse/ Well, I don't know how they are rating it, or how they are trimming the info to make it look good, but the important promises such as "reaching over party lines, bills having 5 days for study, openness about admin officials and the waivers, no lobbiests in the admin.. the list goes on, are being ignored... "The important promises..." According to who? You? An uneducated dum****? Yes, when Obama made genuine attempts to embrace the Republicans, they spit in his face. Eric Cantor got them to agre to vote along party lines before they even listened to Obama's pitch. Bi-partisanship was rebuked by the R's. Now they're feeling the same sick feeling the D's felt - only the R's never invited the D's to participate. The R's said "**** 'em" as soon as they had the majority. |

No need to use fancy words. You can't seriously believe that Hannity/Limbaugh think their **** stinks more than Olbermann's. Examples are available daily right here in this newsgroup. That's for sure. But don't mistake who are the "elitists." Both sides think they are the true champions, have nothing but contempt for the other side, and their "leaders" have the little guys fighting each other. It's good for their business. Not much different from major league soccer. The guys putting on the show get rich, and the spectators cry in their beer at losses, cheer small victories, and occasionally the hooligans riot. Nothing new. Your main choice is whether or not to show up for the games. --Vic |
