Man charged in death of Kansas abortion provider
WICHITA, Kan. – Scott Roeder has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in church. The 51-year-old Roeder was charged Tuesday and appeared in a Wichita, Kan., court via video from jail. Roeder is accused of killing Tiller on Sunday as the doctor served as an usher at his Lutheran church in Wichita. (AP) — The suspect in the shooting death of Dr. George Tiller is expected to make his first court appearance in the slaying of one of the nation's few late-term abortion providers. Scott Roeder remained jailed Tuesday on suspicion of murder, accused of shooting Tiller to death Sunday at the doctor's church in Wichita. Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston said she anticipated Roeder would appear in court at 3 p.m. She said no information about charges would be available before that hearing. The Kansas City Star reported that Roeder's mental health and anti-government activities were factors in a custody battle in 2003 involving a girl in Pennsylvania. - - - Isn't terrorism a federal offense?
