I pulled my cowling yesterday on my Merc 40 OB to change my fuel filter.
Filter was fine, but several places did not have hose clamps. I ran to NAPA for some. They come ten in a box. Guy asked me if I wanted a box. Sure. I'll have some extras. Between everything, I used nine of them. Now to take it out on a run and see if it solves the high speed cutout. (Well, just under 30 MPH FEELS high speed) Steve |

(Well, just under 30 MPH FEELS high speed) Among sailboats that is high speed. Thirty eight foot daysailors, 1850 pound A scows, can go that fast and so can some high tech catamarans. My three grand 22 foot cuddy fish/ski can't be much faster than that with a 226 inch four, 170 hp. I fish and just run about Spirit Lake the largest natural lake in Iowa. . Anywhere is four miles at most from the dock. The larger artificial lakes are full of stump fields that are sometimes barely covered. I was in the cuddy getting a beer, on one, when the driver ran us into the hidden trees. He wanted to snuggle up to a bouy to read the print that said keep back 300 feet in 2 inch letters. I will buy a good stainless steel prop and carry the dinged aluminum for a spare. They say that to boat the artificial lakes you need three props. One mounted, a spare, and one in the shop. Casady |

Casady In the Louisiana swamps, the boat of choice for the local crawfishermen was a custom welded flat bottom 16' boat with a 50 hp. Merc hand tiller. I have seen at least two dozen of them sheared off at half shaft from hitting SOMETHING. You can't see squat in that muddy water. Steve |

In our area the major hazard is being run down by a drunk, or killed at anchor by cops, who tried to blame the victim. Casady |

When I'm cruising around in my Parker, I like to see it reading 5 to 6 or so GPH. I don't see a reason in the world to hand over more money than "necessary" to the pig oil companies. |

So you are admitting you have no idea about the correlation between GPH and MPG, WAFA? Sell your Yamaha and get a 9.9 four stroke, idiot. You will be thrilled with you gallons per hour consumption! |
