a lot of stuff to drool over.

Thanks John!

Well, I did until about 15 minutes ago....

Have you got down to the guy looking for the Mille GT yet? I'm tempted
to send him an email and see what he'll offer for mine. But then I
might be tempted to sell it. Then I'd have to buy something to ride,
like a Honda ST1300 or, yuch, a Harley.

I know where you can get a fully restored '74 Norton 850 Commando.

I'm done with buying old bikes. There's no way I'd ever buy an old
*British* bike. I learned my lesson with a '67 MGB-GT.

My first Guzzi was a '74 850-T. It had 30,000 miles on it when I
bought it, and I put 137,000 more miles on the beast. It was a pretty
good bike, but it ate u-joints. I put at least three in it before my
Dutch friend suggested I needed my transmission rebuilt. So I took the
transmission to his house and we rounded up the 12 or 13 bearings that
go therein. We worked on it until about 1am, in his shed, on Christmas
eve. But we, actually 'he', got it done. Went another 30K or so and
didn't need another u-joint.

That's generous Richard. However...

I think John would want a bike he could ride long distances for quite
a while.

Your right. The Norton isn't for him. Come to think of it, it isn't for me
either.
I am going to pickel the engine, dry out the gas tank and put it in the
music shop.

Eisboch

Damn, I was just thinking it might look great over my fireplace!

The big reason I can't do the Norton thing is because then I'd have to
buy a whole new t-shirt collection.
