I have observed over many years that, were we to make generalisations,

power
boaters tend to identify themselves as more "conservative," whilst sailors
tend to think of themselves as more "liberal."

I know what my observations have been but I wonder what others here might
think.

I'm a stinkpotter and lean to the left. However, I would agree with your
general assessment of the seascape.

Question: do powerboaters not use diesel gensets? And if so, do they not
smoke
or puke?

I would imagine if they have diesel engines they would use diesel gensets.
My friends all use gas and therefore gas gensets. Don't even know when
they're running.

Observation: What do we make of the sailors who, like me, have solar

panels to
keep the batteries charged?

The sun is free. The solar panels on the other hand ...

Pricy, indeed--but Mr. North's comment related to the "puky" nature of diesel
gensets.

Oh Lordy, Lordy!
But, I disagree. Powerboaters are generally testosterone driven,
while sailors are more cerebral.

Politics is secondary between a man and his boat. It's more intimate
than that. :o)

Sometimes, I'm liberally conservative and other times conservatively
liberal, depending on the subject and my frame of mind, but normally,
I'm just "off the wall", or as one instructor in college described me
.....a platonic hedonist .... then again, my daughter says.......(never
mind what my wife says)

LOL! "platonic hedonist"?
It scares me that I think I know what you mean...!
Is that a "passive-aggresive" with a boner? :o)

....sorry. Lord, I apologise.

So what kind of boat would a Libertarian pilot?

FWIW we're starting with a single screw power boat.

One that didn't require a license, could go fast and use as much gas as you
****ing well pleased or go as slow as you ****ing well please when powered
by a sail.

Does that sound suitable?

I bet a Libertarian is the kind of idiot who would clutter up a NG with off
topic drivel scattered with profanity. Most Libertarians are so self
centered they don't think about anyone but themselves.
