Harry gives himself too much credit. Discussions with him had nothing
to do with my not taking my Tolman from Miami to Bimini, a distance of
48 miles over the Gulf Stream. I consider this to be a perfectly
reasonable trip with proper preparation. What kept me from doing it
was looking at the charts. From Bimini to anywhere else in the
Bahamas to get fuel is over 60 miles. Thus, it would make sense to go
from FL to West End, a distance of 68 nm fisrt because then you have
the entire Grand Bahama open to you. I have a friend who did the Lake
Worth inlet to West End and back trip on a 2 cycle waverunner. My open
water experience with the Tolman is not enough to try this anytime
soon whereas my sailboat could do it.

Uh-huh.

I regret I urged caution. Now would be a good time to go.
Go for it.
