WASHINGTON ? On the heels of several damaging videos where ACORN workers
were videotaped advising a woman posing as a prostitute on how to obtain
loans for a house, how to cheat on taxes and how to ?legally? house
underage girls for the purpose of prostitution, the U.S. Census Bureau
on September 11, 2009, sent a letter to the group terminating any
relationship the two have.

The letter reads: ?Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our
national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your
many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to
terminate the partnership.?

The letter was signed by the director of the U.S. Census Bureau, Robert
Groves.

Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10), Ranking Member on the Census
Oversight Subcommittee released the following statement in response to
the U.S. Census Bureau terminating its partnership with the Association
of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN).

?For months, I have continually pressured the Bureau to protect the
integrity of the 2010 Census and end its relationship with ACORN. For
months, the Bureau shamefully defended this criminal enterprise
affiliated with the Democratic Party. When I met with Director Groves
immediately following his confirmation, he promised me that the status
of ACORN as a national partner would be reviewed. I applaud Director
Groves for having the courage to do the right thing. I?m sure there are
those in the Obama Administration who will not be happy with Director
Groves? decision. But it comes as welcome news to the public and all who
seek an accurate and apolitical census.?
