Isn't Indonesia the home of ferry accidents?

(Come to think of it, that sounds rather odd, doesn't it?

Well, anything can happen when you pile 38 people on a 12 ft. jon
boat.

LOL! A true party barge!

Last year we had a group of 6 or so go out in a 12' boat at night in the San
Joaquin river delta. Couple did not make it.

I would have some concern about fitting 3 persons on a 12' boat. I've
heard and have seen some boating horror stories, though, from
overcrowding to sheer thoughtlessness. A couple of years ago, we
tended to a teenage girl who had been smacked in the head by a Sea-Doo
that was closely following the v-bottom she and too many other young
persons were riding in when it [the boat] throttled down for a
slow-wake zone. She screamed for 20 minutes while the EMT's tried to
strap her onto a back-brace. She made it through, though.

The article claims that none of the occupants were wearing life
jackets, and the four that drowned couldn't swim. Incredible.
