It sure made landings from 1500 feet a lot more exciting! Yes I'm sure it did. We did a lot of low mountain and river flying though. Weird to be banking hard either way and if sitting as a door gunner, to be looking at the trees no more than 75 feet below you. But when I look at it. Compared to the Black Hawk and Apache, the huey was about as close to a VW bus as you could get. they were unsophisticated, easy to maintain, and just plain tough. and for what they were, they did there job rather well. Leaving the leaves on it would kill it. Then I'd have a 'dirt' front yard. I liked what a neighbor in Tampa did. He spread gravel over his front yard, built a little concrete pedestal, and put his lawnmower on it. But, we need a way to keep the leaves and acorns in the damn trees. Supposed to rain Tuesday where I live. And maybe major storm. And I am going to Medford, OR Wed. to pick up the new boat trailer.
