Illegal immigration is actually down a bit, since the US economy is so weak. We need better border security and we need to start enforcing the laws already on the books with greater vigor. They can get legal by going back to their contry of origin and get in line for legal entry to the USA. When you find an illegal alien, you summarily deport them. If you enter the USA illegally then you do not respect the laws of the USA and you should not ever be allowed back in. Shoot to kill at the fences. |

Far easier to investigate corporations, find examples of illegal hiring, arrest the corporate officers on criminal charges, try them and if they are found guilt, impose heavy fines on the corporation and the individuals, and then imprison the individuals. For really long terms. No get out of jail free cards for execs who claim, "We didn't know." The illegal workers, after all, come here to make a few bucks to support their families. The law-breaking corporate execs are trying to screw all of us. Let's start with the company you work for, Bertie... who is the compliance officer? -- If you are flajim, herring, loogy, GC boater, johnson, topbassdog, rob, or one of a half dozen others, you're wasting your time by trying to *communicate* with me through rec.boats, because, well, you are among the permanent members of my dumbfoch dumpster. In Freehold, NJ, there is a muster zone for these illegals. They hang out there all day waiting for work, for some landscaper or other business to pick them up. Cash trade. The town decided to shut down the zone, and began regular patrols to disperse the crowd: "Day laborers filed a federal class action lawsuit alleging the borough prevented workers from seeking employment. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of day laborers, many of whom are Hispanic immigrants, after the town shut down a muster zone where the laborers solicited work from area contractors. The class claimed they were harassed and threatened with police action for assembling at the location to scout work. The Borough of Freehold has agreed to settle the case for $278,000." -Newsday See? They were not illegal immigrants, they were "day laborers", and *many* were "Hispanic immigrants". All working for cash, neither the employer nor themselves paying the taxes they owe the government. Now talk about enforcing the laws already on the books. Johnson |

The folks *in* the community are led to believe the Republicans are trying to persecute them by taking action against illegal aliens. When you find an illegal alien, you summarily deport them. Pretty much happens this way now. Of course, we have due process, to hopefully ensure they are actually illegal. There was a case of that not being followed and a US citizen was deported. If you enter the USA illegally then you do not respect the laws of the USA and you should not ever be allowed back in. Yes, I agree also. Shoot to kill at the fences. Lunatic statement. We're not North Korea. -- Nom=de=Plume |
