Default Equity just bought out Bankrupt Genmar

Maybe slowly, but it looks to me like something is going to turn
around.

""It's great to see this partnership promoting so many unique
opportunities," Wood said. "Building the best product and encouraging
increased participation in a sport for all ages have always been our
goals, and we all look forward to a thriving relationship with our new
partner."

Platinum Equity says Randy Hopper will continue to serve as president
of Wood Manufacturing and will oversee production in Flippin of
Ranger, Stratos and Champion boats. Hopper has led Wood for more than
20 years.

The acquisition also includes the Wellcraft, Four Winns and Glastron
boat brands, with factories in Cadillac, Mich., and Murfreesboro,
Tenn."

Maybe. Platinum Equity specializes in LBO's. More likely, the new owners
will sell off the assets of a number of brand names it bought, and
borrow to the degree possible off the rest of the brand
names/factories/tangible assets, and saddle them with more debt than
they have now. Think..."junk bonds."

I see Harry and a non-boater are trashing your boating thread, Tim.
Let me apologize for them, and add some content.
If 'Bama had bailed out Genmar, their assets wouldn't have ended up with
the Wall Street ponzi guys.
Why didn't he bail out Genmar?
1. Genmar workers are non-union, so losing their jobs isn't a tragedy.
2. Geithner and Bernacke wanted Wall Street to get the pieces cheap.

'Bama - pro-union and pro Wall Street. Ying and Yang, Sweet and Sour.
We've come to a hell of place since Ike.
Thanks for the opportunity to talk about boats.

Too bad you are anti-American. I used to admire the US as a great
nation where hard work, integrity, honor and liberty meant something.
Today the crooks and debtors run the country into the ground and liberal
people follow the Pied Piper. When in fact, just selfish leachs looking
for a free lunch, willing to sell their liberty for a talk a lot promise.

I'm also. We've a history of turning things around, even when things look
bleak, more so than now.

Sure. I'm anti-American because I live here, pay my taxes, and want us to
succeed, including helping those less fortunately... while you're unable to
even enter the US. Sure.
