Took just a tiny shim on one side to level left to right. Concrete floor was perfectly flat. Built-in locks lined up perfectly, as did the deadbolt. Interesting... looks like they could have been wider? Or was there some structural issue? The 60" opening could have been made wider when the house was built. I could have hired a good carpenter to make it wider during this latest project, but the expense would have been substantial. Such a project is way beyond my rudimentary carpentry skills. The sliders were a problem, since the widest opening they would allow was less than 30". But now, with these double opening doors, I can pull both open at the same time. Guess who sits on that little footstool... meow! You couldn't afford a union laborer to spend three weeks on that for you? |

Interesting... looks like they could have been wider? Or was there some structural issue? You'd have thought I would have bought something decent instead of those cheap doors with the plastic window frames, huh? Nothing is cheap now-a-days, my stinky little spoofer. I went over last week to order 6 more replacement vinyl windows. They quoted me $2100.00 so I settled for 4 at $1400.00. I'll get the last two for the 1st floor at the winter booking special price. Vinyl windows? Really? |

Probably the ugliest generic doors I have ever seen... Uh-huh. The doors probably cost more than all the furnishings in your one bathroom, motorcycle-in-the-kitchen house. They are just standard "french" doors. This, I understand, is the front door on your house: http://tinyurl.com/33nwevs ~~ Snerk ~~ The nerve of that Freak! |

Looks good. Hey, thanks. It was pretty scary for me... Getting the old door out was much more difficult, involving j mold and a pneumatic cut-off saw and my fear factor. Scary was when I put in the Andersen Frenchwood door and my wife said she wanted the track an inch lower. I ended up taking my brand new track to the table saw, Ripped off the whole bottom of it and just installed the actual runner strip. Then I had to make the doors an inch and a half taller to match the hole. Fortunately we have a lot of red oak I put in and I had some wood to work with. It really came out pretty well but it was scary for a while. When her door guys came over to install the Windoor corner sliders (I was not going to tackle that one) they looked at the Anderson and were really confused until I told them what we did. Well, you are well beyond my home carpentry ability and bravery! |
