Bull****. Young teachers are well aware before they get into the
profession that time on the job results in scale increase. The same is
true for firemen, policemen, most civil servants and many workers in the
private sector.

Many other "union" workers.
Time in grade does not assure proficiency.

Michelle Rhee proved paying for performance raises achievement levels.

One more time: the biggest problem with public schools...the parents of
the students.

Agreed but the question is, how do you improve parents who are not
there or do not care?
DC school system improved without replacing the parents.

Careful...when I mentioned parents, I got called a racist. Funny how things get
turned around.

That's because your comments *were* racist. One can only imagine the
comments you made, sotto voce, about all the people of color at Disney
World, including, heaven forbid, *mixed* couples, including, incredibly
(for someone like you), white women with men of color.

Harry, you are the true racist.

I'm sure that in your little world of right-wing stupor, that is the case.

How is your Korean dentist? Do you ever talk about just your dentist,
no. You always have to identify his nationality. You always have to
identify people by their race or nationality. Why is that? Why can't you
just see people?

My Korean dentist is fine. In addition to being a first-rate dentist, he
is a first-rate humanitarian. You think I'm a racist because I mentioned
my dentist is Korean? If I had feelings of racial prejudice about
Koreans, I likely wouldn't be going to a Korean dentist. Hey, he's an
American success story, an immigrant who came here, learned English, got
into college and got into dental school. I *celebrate* his contributions
to our national diversity.

Hey, I like Korean food, too. I also like the Korean airline
commercials. I have an LG refrigerator, made in Korea, which I bought to
replace the nearly new but crappy made-in-America GE refrigerator we had.

Oh, and I don't oppose miscegenation. I love looking at Beyoncé Knowles.
There's something mightily attractive about an African and Creole mix,
don't you think? I like Asian-ancestry women, too, along with, of
course, "white women" and Latinas. Penélope Cruz sure does it for me.

I guess I'm just not a white bread only boy.

You are not unlike many righties...you haven't a clue about racism and
what it is. Of course, you're part of a political party that lives off
racism.
