Many thanks in advance Jim Jim- as to the "3.3's", I am sure that you would have no operational problems, but you would be exceeding the hull rating. Law Enforcement may, or may not, draw a distinction. I would never "recommend" exceeding a hull rating. Why not give your local authority a call, and ask them? I'm not familiar with your specific boat, but I would expect a top speed between 5 and 10 knots. Between jogging and running speed. Endurance? ![]() consumption in "liters/hour" will vary considerably on throttle position. If your boat will "plane", your best fuel usage will be just at or above planing speed. With a built-in fuel tank you should get several hours operation at moderate speed. Check the manufacturer's specifications for fuel capacity/usage. Good luck. noah Courtesy of Lee Yeaton, See the boats of rec.boats www.TheBayGuide.com/rec.boats |

Seahwawk 500 is a toy. Don't put an outboard on it. It is far to light and
fragile. Somebody could get hurt. Get going 6 or 7 knots hit a wake and it folds up...you don't want to go there. If you really want to motor around a bit in an inflatable buy a used version of a reasonable one. Cost you 300 or 400 and you will not take your life in your hands. Check the want ads at your local marine store. Jim "Jim Preston" wrote in message k... Hi all I'm very new to this boating hobby and have just bought an inflatable Seahawk 500 boat. The photograph on their website shows a 2hp Cruise and Carry outboard; a Merc or Nissan 3+hp motor might be too heavy and pushing the hp limit. Your inflatable looks pretty big, lots of drag so speed will be slow, but for puttering about in flat water an old Cruise and Carry (12 pounds) would be easier than rowing. |

Thanks for your replies, I've returned the boat to the shop for a refund.
Will now buy something more substantial. Cheers Jim "Mark" wrote in message om... "Jim Preston" wrote: I'm very new to this boating hobby and have just bought an inflatable Seahawk 500 boat.
