But if he can post a pic of his chubby fingers holding a harry nametag with that little sports car in the background that has a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds or less, I know we'd all like to see it! Ahhh. I sold my Jag XK150S. It wasn't *fast* by today's standards, but it sure was a lovely car and a lot of fun to drive. I was a big fan of British sports cars for many years, even though most of them were not so hot in the QC department. Had an MGA, a Triumph TR-4 IRS (a very solid car), a Lotus Cortina, among others, in addition to the Jag. The MGA probably was the prettiest car; the Lotus Cortina was the worst, in terms of reliability. I bought the MGA well-used, and I got the troubles with it I expected. And then some. My current "less powerful than your 'vette sports car" is not British. But it does get 33+ mpg at reasonable highway speeds, 28-29 mpg at "higher" highway speeds, and will do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Your 'vette might be a half to a quarter second quicker to 60, but, of course, that depends somewhat on the skill of the driver. Same is true on the track, of course. If whoever is driving that 'vette isn't good, it's going to wallow and slipslide away. It's not British or Japanese. :) And, like your 'vette, is not suitable for pulling a heavy boat trailer. Bull****. |

Apples and oranges. Reply: Not really. My 1964 SS Impala was no where as streamlined as a Vette. My 1964 Vette Coupe got about 18 on the highway. was a 375 hp fuelie. Got about 8 when racing it in SCCA as a B-Prod car. Was very competitive. My 7700# crewcab Duramax gets about 19 on the freeway and about 16 around town. Not anymore aerodynamic than my 1999 Expedition. My 1968 POS 383 Charger got about 16.5 on the freeway as well as about 20,000 miles per brake drum. I just say there should be a hell of a lot better mileage than they are getting at Ford. my truck has averaged 14.5 mpg for the 116k miles I have put on it. That includes towing a boat with and without camper installed. A drive to Alaska with camper, and going over 8-9000' mountains while towing and not towing. Pretty dang good. |

Gosh...took five seconds to find a Brit sports car that accelerates as quickly as your 'vette: http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/carpag...persports.html Too bad you don't have one.... And it's a little slower and and gets about the same mileage as the 'vette. But didn't he write "my less powerful little sports car gets to 60 as quickly as yours, and gets better mileage"? Now the best he can do is google up a car he doesn't have that isn't as fast, and gets about the same mileage. ~snerk~ You'd think he'd point us to the website with the specs of the car he supposedly *does* have with those performance parameters. Oops, the website and car would have to exist. You commented about "British" sports cars and how most of them were lacking in performance. I pointed you to one of many that is not lacking. You mentioned owning a "little" sports car that had less power and got better mileage with the same acceleration as my Corvette. You also said it wasn't British or Japanese. That pretty much leaves French, German, or Italian. The closest thing would be a Z4 or a Boxster/ Cayman. All fine cars, except they all fall short in one area or another compared to your make-believe sports car. They are either slower, or if they are nearly as fast, get the same or worse mileage. I owned a Boxster S, remember? Face it, your supposed sports car doesn't exist in your garage or likely in the real world. They fall short, eh? Well, you're just not up to speed. At least one of them accelerates just about as quickly as your 'vette, 0-60 at between 4.5 and 4.9 seconds, and with better mileage. Hey, I know several people who like 'vettes. I've never been a fan; I've always found them to be hard-riding, with not that impressive interiors. But they do give you a big bang for the buck, if you like that sort of thing. A big, powerful engine, big wide tires, noisy muffler = small penis. Still looking for a penis that's just right for you, Deplume? How many have you tried on so far, Deplume? |
