Unfortunately, even though you have a small sample, people, esp. kids
are having more and more weight problems. There's a biological reason
for it, as well as a social/economic element. More poor people tend to
eat lower quality food, which is higher in fat/sugar content.

I used to get out to FSU once in awhile to "use the library" but
nowadays parking is impossible so I gladly pay $30 for papers offa the
internet. I figure that the time saved is worth it but I dont get the
perk of watchin the girls.
HOWEVER, I still think they've gotten heftier mostly cuz they all got
cars now and don't get any exercise. We'd ride our bikes all the time
and as I worked as a bicycle mechanic, I could use that to meet
girls, "If you'd let me pump up that tire, it'd be a lot easier to
ride.....". Bein hotter than hell in Tallahassee, they'd wear as
little as possible too. The physics bldg overlooked a grassy area
over the particle accelerator where girls from a girls dorm would
sunbathe, not conducive to concentration. "Tutoring" was a great gig
and I could pick the best ones for multiple sessions.

Reply:
BS to economic reasons. Poor diets, bad parenting. Staying in the Sea
Cliff Resort in Kona, and overall the people here are fat. Hell, I am about
20# extra in weight, but I am 6'4" and 68 years old. They make me look
trim. Vacation in Kona is not for the poor, but can not believe how many
fat people, and young fat at that. On the plane over, fat mom of about 40
maybe, ate nothing really healthy and her about 10 year old, was already
obese as well as dad. Younger brother had still not put on the extra
weight, but with a mom and dad who are obese and have no idea on dietary
needs, he is probably also going to fill out a lot.

According to you, but not according to most people who've studied the
problem. Feel free to rant about how terrible the poor are. It makes
you look so manly.

Most of the studies out there are paid for bull****. Give delinquents
an excuse, feed their denial.

Politicians and paid bull****ers know to pander to envy, greed and
denial. Obama is good at it. It is why his talk sounds good but
because people are in amass denial of the reality facts, nothing gets
done or changes.

Simple fact is, it is all up to the individual to become a better person
and without that your destined to be a loser.

My error. I forgot that morons like you give a crap about facts.
You're uneducated and refuse to be educated. What a sad little man.

Yet another subject about which you know nothing. Prove your claim about
"most of the studies."

It's the standard Faux News line... "Some people" say... nonsense and
no substantiation following.

I belonged to an outdoor club in college. We'd take hiking trips but
I'd arrange them so that it would be blazingly hot but we'd pass near
an icy cold sinkhole. Of course, nobody would have brought a bathing
suit. So, I'd get to check em out before asking em out.

Although I knew lots of good looking girls in college, I simply could
not afford to date much at all. College cost $15/quarter hour then
and I needed 15 quarter hours and was paid $1.80/hr to clear survey
paths with a machete in the heat. After school and housing was paid
for, I was down to diluting pancake mix with more and more flour every
day just to eat. MY second date with my wife, we both wandered around
picking up soft drink bottles for the deposit so we could go to a
cheap movie, still married 32 yrs later too. Not much opportunity to
get fat then.

A deal indeed. Many of the well-rated private universities around here
are getting $1000 to $2000 a credit. Out of state tuition at the
University of Maryland, a public institution, is $25,000 a year; instate
is close to $9000. The rates are so high that soon we'll be a nation of
intellectual slugs like Tosk, Canuck, or the Loogywannabe.

I wish I had such a deal or even 4x that. Fortunately, I was lucky
enough to get a good job and paid off the student loan early. It must
be terrifying for kids just getting an undergrad degree and having
$100K debt.

And a good paying job was 3 bucks an hr. and gas was .29c By todays
standards that $95.00 was cheaper'n dirt. but then it was a load!
