What church claims you as a member? Is that where you learned to call

Oh, I am sure Tim can, if he wishes, respond to a question as to whether
a particular bit of ugly behavior in the name of Christianity is
Christian. Getting up in front of a group of conservative Christians, as
Jeffress did, and casting aspersions on a candidate for the GOP
presidential nomination because he is a "Mormon," and therefore part of
a cult, is not very Christian. One can only imagine what Jeffress would
have said if Romney were Jewish.

Oh, wait...Jesus was Jewish. Well, that presents a problem. :)

For the record, I don't believe you have any knowledge, subtle or
otherwise, of anything that requires intellectual exercise.

They're losers Harry. They're the "Christian" Taliban.

Tim, the trouble is, because Harry is so quick to label people
and put
them in a very narrow slot, he'll use those idiots as an
example of all
Christianity.

I noticed that several here do as well. That's why I said
they're the
taliban of Christianity. But you're right, people look at the
Westboro's and their radical lunacies, and that's how they
wish to
brand ALL Christians.

It's really kinda sad that some people wish to be so narrow
minded as
to judge all by looking at the antics of a few misaligned and
self-
rightous klutzes.

But the funny thing is that Christianity has been mocked for
around
2000 years, and it's still standing well. So... I look at it like
this. If people want to curse the good Christians, then that
really
doesn't make them any different than the Westboro's does it?

As a percentage of humanity, Christianity is on the rocks and
shrinking.

Oh no, and far from it.

I said as a percentage. Take China and Africa muslim and non
christian
growth over the last 100 years.

--
Eat the rich, screw the companies and wonder why there are no jobs.
But
we have big huge government we can't afford...
-- Obama and the lefty fleabagger attitude

interesting that you should mention China. That's one country where
Christianity is flourishing and growing , not to mention S. Korea.

Smoking too much religious crack? China is only 3 or 4% Christian,
predominantly Buddhist and government is atheist without religious
preference. And in fact, no all seeing eye makes China more separation
between church and state than the USA.
--

we weren't talking about Buddhism, Islam etc. We were talking about
Christianity weren't we?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...e-christianity

"Today, estimates of Christians range between 40 million and 100
million."

"During this period, house churches boomed in popularity. As the New
York Times correspondent Nicholas Kristof noted, initially popular
among the peasantry, Christianity's reach has extended towards the
cities and the wealthy and intellectual Chinese over the last decade.

The reasons for this boom are twofold. The first is that the Chinese
have found Christianity to be a stabilising belief system amid a
dramatically changing socioeconomic landscape, which had its previous
religious traditions crushed by Maoism and its values questioned after
Tiananmen Square. And, secondly, with its obvious western heritage,
the rise of Christianity may be linked to a subconscious attack on the
norms and values espoused by the PRC ? rather like South Korea in the
1980s."

Granted, even 100 mil, is a small percentage considering there's well
over a billion people in China, but it's a long step of growth since
the 70's especially in a country run by a religion supervised
government

3 to 4% of 1.3 billion people is at most 52 million. And growth claims,
highly questionable.

Fastest growing religion in USA if you include atheists? Atheists. If
you exclude atheists, then it goes to Buddhism. Go figure.

Sort of follows black supremacy claims of being the first minority,
blacks are 3rd if you include Spanish decent.

Just a lot of bull**** to keep whining people happy. But then facts and
reality, no fleabaggers want to hear that. Some idiots feelings might be
hurt.

Chinese government is officially atheist. You need to read better
material. Check my stats on CIA Wold Fact Book, ship your voodoo
religious sermon sites.

You sure are turning out to be one condescending asshole... What
happened, some Christian guy steal your girl in High School or something?

Not at all. Just realize religion is about herd management and power
over the people, and not by god but by fellow man.

Kind of like your atheism...

With so many starving
people, what is so christian about the Vatican hoarding billions while
they hypocritically profess differently for the masses?

Kind of like Athiests...

Where is this place that is akin to the Vatican where an organized group
of athiests are hoarding billions of dollars then profess differently to
the masses?

Because of religion, so few have all the power, while the rest live as
slaves to serve it. Fact is, just another form of fascism. My god is
better than your god -- and no proof anyone ever met the being.

I have proof enough for me, I have seen his work..

So that's proof that someone has met the being?

Isn't to say I am anti-religion, I am not. The herd animal humans need
intellectual guidance through life or the whole world would become
Somalia like. Decay to the animal basics, dog eat dog.

Kind of like the direction we are heading now...

How so?

Oh, please. I know lots of Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus
who will respond to any sort of sincere question about religion or its
practitioners. One of my college apartment mates for two semesters was
an Episcopal priest working on a master's degree. We argued for hours
about religion. One of my clients is a stalwart Roman Catholic, a
leading Catholic intellectual as a matter of fact. well-known, who will
discuss any aspect of religion in any depth you want.

It isn't reasonable to "mock Christianity," as you put it,
because of
the WBC, but what about the actions of Jeffress, his flock, and
those
Baptist Christians who are as bigoted as he is? Is that sort of
behavior
"Christian"?

What about 'em?

"Is that sort of behavior "Christian"?"

Well, you tell me....

Just because they say they are............

That's a problem, isn't it? So many of many religions claim to
consist
of true believers and followers, but what they stand for is hate.

My feeling is that if you are part of the "Values Voters"
conference
sponsored by the Family Research Council, you parted ways with
Christianity a long time ago. Those folks hide under the
banner of
their
religion to spread hate.

I don't see how it is possible to be a social conservative and a
follower of the teachings of Jesus.

Well Harry, why don't you tell us all about the teachings of
Jesus..
Then tell us about "Jesus on a stick at *Christmas* again, and
while
your are googling, go ahead and tell us why Tim *can't* answer
your
questions. go ahead, I will wait.

People of intelligence can, with good manners, debate whether
churches/mosques/synagogues are doing good or doing evil.

Obviously you didn't read your own question, I didn't read the
rest of
your spew.... So Harry, tell us "why Tim *can't" answer your
question? [
Is that sort of behavior "Christian"?]

When you can answer that, then we will talk... Until then, you are
just
trolling and calling names... Really, the answer to my question is
easy,
for anybody who understands ever the most subtle ideas of
Christianity...

Oh, I am sure Tim can, if he wishes, respond to a question as to
whether
a particular bit of ugly behavior in the name of Christianity is
Christian.

No, no he can't, because he *is* a christian. You will never
understand,
so I won't bother explaining it to you.. So the rest of your rant, is
just more uninformed bull****..

Uh-huh. Obviously, you have never been exposed to Christians who can
think.

Ok stupid.. I will help you out. He "can't" answer because "judgement is
mine, sayeth the Lord". That is why Tim "can't" answer your question..
No go spend some more of your poor wifes money...

You excel in one area...covering your ignorance with layers of bull****.

Coming from you Dr. Karen Grear of Catholic University of America. You
have told more lies here over the years than Obama has in the last 6
months... You are known for only one thing here and that's your lies of
grand conquests. Fire boat welcomes that never happened, Yale degrees
that were never earned, Doctors degrees that were never earned, boats,
cars, and motorcycles, bicycles, property, barns and even photos you
never owned... LOL!

There he goes again...Scott Ingersoll, the intellectual nitwit who
cannot debate any point without bringing up people who don't post here
and never have.

It must really suck to be at your point in life and to have achieved
nothing of substance.
