It should be part of the test for a driver's license in my opinion. That was the only good thing I can say about Beltway traffic in the 70s and early 80s. People didn't have any trouble merging ... unless we got some yokel from out of town. It was a thing of beauty watching some of those exits when you were coming off a hill where you get a good view, Cars were exiting and entering like cogs on a gear and all at 65-70. All it took was one guy to stop and "wait for an opening" all hell broke loose tho. Something about folks here... They always speed up when they see you are trying to merge. I had a guy last week from Prime Plumbing in Newington CT. who was a total asshole. He saw I was in a hurry so he stuck his big deisel in front of me. So I went to pass and he came over. People always try to pass boats, assuming they will slow them down I guess.
