If there was a settlement, it was handled by some of the other officers at the restaurant association. Herman Cain a few hours later: Maybe three months' salary. I don't remember. It might have been two months. I do remember my general counsel saying we didn't pay all of the money they demanded. Herman Cain today: The financial settlement with the accuser "was in the vicinity of 3 to 6 months' severance pay," he said, adding that the payment was "not outside our guidelines for what most people get ... when they leave the Restaurant Association involuntarily." So in the span of 24 hours: He knows nothing about a settlement. Okay, he knows about a settlement, but it was only two to three months' salary. Okay, that settlement he didn't know about yesterday, but then remembered it was only two to three months' salary, was actually three to six months. You know, at the current rate of Herman's recollecting, he's about a week from admitting that okay, yeah, he raped and killed a few girls and ate their livers with some nice chianti and used their skins to make a nice winter coat for his wife—who comes up to his chin, you know—and paid off their families with two or three or six months' pay and a lifetime supply of pizza to keep it on the down low. But that's it. Story's over, nothing to see here. Now let's talk about that 9-9-9 plan ... I suppose it all depends on what the woman was doing. If she was standing in front of him and he was holding his hand under his chin saying she was a short as his wife, it may be a slur on short people but it is not sexist. If she was kneeling getting something out of a file cabinet and he was holding his hand at belt buckle height, they might have a case, particularly if he made the flat head, beer joke. I doubt there would be a settlement for telling a woman "You're the same height as my wife." Also keep in mind there are at least two different women in this particular anecdote. I was listening to Ann Coulter on CNN last night and she raised a good point. In the early 90's men had to be worried about women entrapping them. Companies even mandated "Sexual harassment training" and some do to this day. But agree, there is more to it than height. But no criminal charges...no details....smells of smear. -- The reason government can't fix the economic problems is government is the problem. |

"X ` Man" wrote in message m... LAtest news...apparently one of the paid-off women received a check for a full year's salary. Nothing to talk about... snerk ---------------------------------------------- True or not true, guilty or not guilty, one thing that really ****es me off is that the media can keep these women's identities anonymous. Seems to me that if you are going to publically accuse someone of wrongdoing, you should be identified. This is particularly true *if* the allegations are true *and* the women involved accepted any "settlement" in return for a non-disclosure. Cain didn't bring the subject up. The media dug it out of alleged "victims" who apparently agreed to keep their mouths shut in the settlement. Be it what it is, it's too bad. Herman Cain may be an oddity, maybe he's financed by the Koch brothers, maybe he has a fondness of women (he certainly wouldn't be the first ... and at least he prefers the opposite sex) but the guy isn't a dummy. His Bachelor's is in Mathematics, holds a Master's in Computer Science and has a track record of success with Pillsbury in turning around underperforming business units in record time. He may not be presidential material, but he is certainly different and somewhat entertaining. Cain has no chance of beating President Obama. Actually, none of the current Republican candidates do, including Romney. Unless President Obama makes a huge, royal screw up in the next 12 months, he will be elected to a second term. Not a landslide by any means .... but I predict he will be victorious. Eisboch |
