How many cruisers , I wonder, are NOT going to the Bahamas this year Because
of the higher costs, and instead comming to Florida? Sterling I think quite a few are boycotting the Bahamas at the moment. This is the first year in a while I haven't made at least one trip. It no longer makes any sense to pay $200 and up for a transire, depending on the size of your boat, and then pay $3 a gallon for gas. The Keys are looking much better although the fishing's still not as good. One way to beat the outrageous fees is to tell the officials you'll be cruising the islands for a couple of months and then you can use your transire for a couple of weekend trips. I haven't tried it but several of my boating friends have. Helps amortize the costs down a bit. Barry |
