Default A humorous blast from the past

I'm not hesitant to post here with my real name.

All I ask for is a real first name.

yeah, then you'll ask for the middle name and then the sir name and
then you will call up a demon and lay waste to the poor guy who
probably doesn't have any salt or holy water handy to pour on the
demon because you know his true name.

Salt and holy water- you mean...like a slug?

I don't know what this is about, but there are an awful lot of people
here intensely interested in all the particulars about certain
posters.

Somehow, knowing a person's True Name (and physical address, telephone
number, names of wife, children, employer, etc.) and posting same to
the USENET community gives one power over that individual. The slugs
are the ones seeking the power of salt and holy water to do harm to
those they fear and/or despise.

While your point does seem silly, at first, a bit of due consideration
shows that these people seeking names and addresses are all about
"call[ing] up a demon and lay[ing] waste to the poor guy."

Not so funny, huh?

I think it's hilarious! It was just a past conversation (from about
2006) about people requesting a real name to the posters here; and
what it could lead to.

I'm sorry if you fail to see the humor in it.

I thought that was interesting too.
