What data in that site do you disagree with and why? The document you provided a link to is nothing more than a vision statement. There are no specifics, plans or time-lines. It is a document to encourage early investment. Exactly. It has *zero* data. Really? Are you that stupid? |

Utilize many energy resources using plug and play technology and (GASP!) focus on using renewable sources efficiently and seamlessly. Easily integrate wholesale markets which will then lead to the growth of new electricity wholesale markets. Resilient to attack and natural disasters with rapid restoration capabilities. Smart grid is a new avenue to attack the power co/citizens and enables them to commit fraud upon their customers. Expect a major lawsuit in the near future, when the $$ maximize ROI for such an action. As an engineer, I know where the skeletons are hidden. These meters may be calibrated, but only accurately measure power consumed or returned, if programmed to do so. P.S. I refused the installation of a so-called smart meter and smartly kept my old analog meter. |

It has *zero* data. Really? Are you that stupid? Quote one verifiable data point in the article. Hell man, the freakin' title of the document is "A Vision for the Smart Grid". Vision. Fluff. Here's an example: "And finally, the Smart Grid will operate resiliently against attack and natural disaster. It will incorporate a system-wide solution that reduces physical and cyber vulnerabilities and enables a rapid recovery from disruptions. Its resilience will create an image that intimidates would-be attackers.. It will also be less vulnerable to natural disasters." Precisely how will it be resilient, enable rapid recovery, and be intimidating to would-be attackers? With "a system-wide solution". snerk It is full of that type of pie-in-the-sky fluff meant to sell the idea to non-technical people. Completely non-technical, non-specific, marketing fluff. Nothing in there can be verified because there are no specifics, and that's on purpose. Tell me you aren't that gullible. Oh, never mind. |

Most people do not like them as their power bills went up 20-30%. I think the reason the utilities love them is it calculates power usage better. With all the cell phone and computer low voltage transformers in a house the power factor is wrong for great billing. The power passes without being registered as a big percentage is mostly inductive and the power factor designed in to a standard meter will not record a lot of the energy used. |

The SMART Grid is a vision and as of now it is an undefined and unobtainable vision. |
