I'm all for new technology that is, once it's been proven to work and
work well. I realize this is Volvo and not GM (but Volvo is owned by
Ford) but I've seen plenty of 'space age' failures being sprung on the
public over the last 35-40 years... all being advertised as 'advanced
technology'

Vega's silicon-ized block that wore out in 20,000. mi. Fords variable-
vent carb that never worked to begin with, but most made the warranty.
Caddy's 8-6-4 system that ran on 8 when needed to and shut down to 4
cyl at cruising speed. Most caught fire. Caddy's aluminum block 4100
engine. cam ran right on the aluminum block. like a Japanese
motorcycle. (only the Japs worked!). Chryslers 'lean burn' ignition,
which blew black smoke out the tail pipe that is IF you could get the
car started. And the list goes on.

I'd like to see something proven, before it's unleashed.

Now in the same website, I noticed this- a $9.00 bicycle. It might
crater in a week, but it's inexpensive enough. If you can peddle, you
have dirt cheap transportation. To me, that's putting technology to
use with a great deal of practicality.
